Integrated Surveillance System for the Protection of the Samaria Gorge
The objective of this research project is the development of a Surveillance System capable of gathering high resolution images and video, thermal information from IR camera and meteorological data from the territory of the Samaria Gorge. The system consists of a Remote Ground Unit which gathers all the image, video and meteorological data from the cameras and sensors. The Remote Ground Unit sends the data via a wireless link, using real time techniques, to a Central Base Station which lies at the entrance of the gorge. After the necessary processing at the Base Station the data are available through a Web page.
